Ecotoxicology Division - Capabilities...
In conjunction with GEOTECH's extensive laboratory
services we are able to offer a one-stop consulting service for ecotoxicology
testing and chemical analysis. GEOTECH staff confer
with the client to provide accurate advice which aids in solving their
environmental problems. GEOTECH staff are highly
skilled in environmental project development, project management,
analytical services, analysis and interpretation of data, report writing
and presentation of results. GEOTECH provides exotoxicology
consultancy and analytical services to many large and small clients
with a rapid turnaround and high approval rating.
GEOTECH's Ecotoxicology Service occupies a controlled environment laboratory at the Aquaculture Development Unit in the WA Maritime Training Centre, Fremantle, Western Australia. This laboratory has been specifically designed to facilitate the performance of bioassays under a wide range of Western Australian conditions eg. temperate and tropical, freshwater, estuarine and marine.
The GEOTECH Ecotoxicology Service specialises in
the development of chronic toxicity tests using species that are indigenous
to the ecosystem receiving the pollutant. These tests can be used
to determine the predicted effect of a pollutant on an ecosystem and
to calculate a trigger value as recommended by the ANZECC Water Quality
Guidelines (2000). GEOTECH's Ecotoxicology Service
routinely performs chronic or sublethal bioassays; acute lethal tests
can be performed if requested.
GEOTECH is the only ecotoxicology laboratory in Australia
that has developed and validated a 7 day larval fish growth bioassay
using several marine and estuarine species such as: pink snapper,
black bream and mulloway.
GEOTECH performs toxicity tests on the following:
Effluents
Leachates
Groundwaters
Receiving
Waters
Chemicals
Sediments
Soils
