Divisional Manager / Principal Ecotoxicologist
bio and experience...
David Strom has more than 8 years experience in commercial and research ecotoxicology, analytical chemistry and biogeochemistry. His main expertise is ecotoxicology, specifically understanding the factors that modify the bioavailability of contaminants in aquatic environments which thereby influence toxicity to marine and freshwater organisms. David completed his PhD research with the CSIRO developing the revised ANZECC & ARMCANZ Sediment Quality Guidelines for metal contaminated sediments using cause-effect relationships that consider chemical speciation and biological exposure pathways. His experience also extends to deriving and implementing site-specific water and sediment quality criteria for ecological risk assessments of industrial effluent discharges (including sewage treatment plants, desalination plants, power stations, paper mills and smelters) and sediment tailings disposal from mining and dredging operations. David is now managing the Ecotoxicology Laboratory at GEOTECHNICAL SERVICES PTY LTD.
